The Beach an upbeat destination by Meraas, offering first-time experiences of an outdoor lifestyle venue where urban meets the sea.
Minimalistic in design and detailed with architectural definition. The Beach is styled with intent to attract people who are sociable, enthusiastic and relaxed. The Beach is one of Dubai’s most exciting developments catering to both local residents and global visitors, spanning up to 320,000 square feet.
Uniquely set against a scenic backdrop of the Arabian Sea, the destination provides an ensemble of options for community engagement including a host of outdoor activities, fitness facilities, retail stores, Cineplex, restaurants, ‘The Market’ an outdoor artisanal bazaar, seaside leisure and adventure with ‘Sea Breeze’, as well as ‘Splash Pad’, a play-area for kids – plentiful choices for the ultimate day out.
Our creative event idea was mainly derived by The Beach offerings to the public which are mainly 3: Food, Shopping and Entertainment. These 3 elements are coming from different retailers and our main aim was to engage the public with them and showcase them the best way possible. Especially that it was during November that is the best season to be outdoors in Dubai, we made sure we designed a colorful and attractive event space that was divided into 3 areas based on the activations to match these retail offerings: Enjoy, Play, Taste areas included elements that engaged the public in an open and free and relaxing flow on the sand. Abstract colorful geometrical patterns were also added in our designs in order to make it appealing to a multicultural environment and encourage interaction, inclusion and community lifestyle.
The biggest challenge for such an event was that it was decided to take place at a sloppy and uneven sandy area in front of the beach. For that reason we made sure we level the ground in order to encourage a free flow of guests and makes sure all event areas will be easily visited and enjoyed. A lot of technology and lighting was added in order to make the event alive at night and also made sure to design areas that can appeal to all target groups from small ages to older ones. In addition having the retailers not close to the event area was another challenge that we had to tackle and for that reason we created kiosks that can still use to place orders and sell successfully their products
